The Technology Strategy Board is funding the Modern Built Environment Knowledge Transfer Network (MBE KTN) www.mbektn.co.uk/.

The MBE KTN is managed by BRE, Arup, BSRIA and CIRIA and is established around three main sectors: Offices, Infrastructure and Healthcare.  In addition sub themes have been identified which include: energy efficiency, flood resilience, flexibility/adaptability, materials and life extending technologies. The activity of the network includes

  • Events to bring together the built environment community interested in innovation,
  • Brokering knowledge transfer between companies, academia and sources of knowledge in construction,
  • Representing the industry to government and
  • Providing an information resource to business through the website.

Our Innovation Platform on Low Impact Buildings is a five year programme to support research and development in the built environment. It's initial focus on assisting the innovation required to realise the zero carbon, water efficiency and broader environmental aspirations of new housing to deliver the higher levels of the DCLG Code for Sustainable Homes by 2016.
