The Ministry of Defence’s Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) is launching a competition for proposals
This call is seeking novel and innovative solutions to enable MOD to maintain logistic distribution capacity whilst reducing the number of personnel involved in a re-supply operation. The challenges faced include:
-
Distributing different types of supply materiel (e.g. liquid, palletised)
-
Achieving mobility and manoeuvrability across difficult terrain (e.g. mountainous, desert, urban), extremes of climate and in all environmental conditions
-
Travelling over distances of up to 750km
The competition will launch at a seminar event on 19th January. The focus of the seminar is to consider technologies that reduce the manning requirement of distribution platforms and therefore reduce the likelihood of casualties. Information on the challenges and opportunities faced by UK Armed Forces when conducting supply distribution operations around the world will be presented by military and MOD experts for discussion at the seminar. This will be of interest to a range of subject matter experts from academia and industry.
Potential applicants are strongly recommended to attend the seminar, registration is necessary via http://www.science.mod.uk.
