Maritime Platform Efficiency & Sustainability

The Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE), part of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (dstl) is the UK Ministry of Defence’s gateway to defence research for industry, academia and innovators with ideas with the potential to substantially improve UK Armed Forces capability.

This CDE call will seek to address the need of UK Maritime capability for affordable technology that can significantly reduce input demands (e.g. fuel), increase efficiency and reduce waste. The call is not limited to new or emerging technology and proposals using innovative, but existing, technology will be welcomed.  Specific challenges  to which solutions are sought are:

  • Heat Management
  • Platform Propulsion
  • Novel Platform Efficiency & Sustainability

This call will launched at a one day seminar, hosted by CDE and DSTL, in Southampton on Thursday 26th January 2012. The event will provide an overview on maritime research priorities (morning session) and further details of the CDE call for research proposals (afternoon session).
