Helicopter Rotor Blade Scintillation
The Center for Defence Enterprise (CDE) is seeking applications that investigate the affect created by rotor blades as helicopters take off and come in to land.
When operating in sandy or dusty environments, interactions between helicopter rotor blades and particles stirred up by the rotor downwash can give rise to a phenomenon referred to as scintillation. A wide range of proposals are sought which address this and propose means to eliminate its effects.
