Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) Joint Programme Call for Proposals 2010 AAL-2010-3

The objective of the AAL Joint Programme is to enhance the quality of life of older people and strengthen the industrial base in Europe through the use of Information and Communication Technologies.

AAL Project Eligibility

Consortium composition of at least

• 3 independent eligible organizations (legal entities), from at least 3 different AAL Partner States participating in the Call for Proposals

• One eligible business partner

• One eligible SME partner which can be the business partner

• One eligible end-user organization

• Size of the consortium: 3 - 10 partners

• Duration of the project: 12 - 36 months


UK Participant Eligibility in AAL Projects

The Technology Strategy Board as the UK funding body will fund a maximum of 50% of the UK eligible costs of an AAL project in the 2010 call. The eligibility criteria for the 2010 call is.

• All participants must be separate legal entities.

• All UK companies must have been trading for at least 12 months.

• There are specific accountancy rules for Sole Traders & Micro Companies [companies with less than 10 employees].

• Maximum grant limit of 400,000 Euros per UK partner in any single project. Except for Charities and Foundations [see below].

Industry [SME & Large Companies] up to 50% of eligible costs

Local Authorities up to 100% [must have UK industry partner in project]

NHS Trusts up to 100% [must have UK industry partner in project]

Charities and Foundations 100% [Max grant limit of 75,000 Euros]


The UK budget for the AAL 2010 call is 1.1 million Euros.

Higher Educational Institutes [HEI's] are not specifically excluded, but the Technology Strategy Board is unable to fund. If HEI's wish to participate they must provide their own funding.

It is recommended that all UK participants contact the Technology Strategy Board to check eligibility.
